Localisation Professional (CLP)
This document provides details on
how to become a Certified Localisation Professional. It looks at the process
and requirements for each area and lists the number of credits available for
individual courses
This document provides a detailed
overview of the TILP framework and provides information on which CLP
accredited courses are available at which TILP Accredited Course Providers.
The first four credits of all level 1
CLP certifications are composed of 3 common modules which cover an
introduction to the field of localisation and also two different types of
common localisation tool (GUI and TM). These modules
are the same for each area of CLP and they (or their equivalent) must be
completed before CLP certification will be provided for the candidate.

CLP recognises three categories of localisation professional:
Within each category, there is a clear job definition and two levels of
certification. Individuals become certified by accumulating a
certain number of credits. These credits are obtained by taking some formal
localisation courses, offered by a TILP accredited course provider. These
courses will include a combination of core modules and elective modules.
Certain CLP Accredited Training Providers (University and Internship courses) are uniquely placed to offer CLP training over an extended period of time. For courses which fall into this category, students that achieve over 70% completion rates in these courses (in their entirety) can apply to be granted full CLP level certification in their chosen area when they present copies of transcripts and other evaluations to TILP.

Practical experience will also be taken into account (spending a minimum
period of time in a specified role in a defined environment - educational,
professional).
