Educational Background

I started my education in Flensburg, Germany, where I received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration in 1990. I continued my education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and at Faulkner University in Huntsville and Montgomery, where I received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in Management in 1999 and 2000, respectively. After completing these formal programs of study, I furthered my expertise by attending the Localization Summer School at the Localisation Research Centre at the University of Limerick, Ireland in 2006. I also completed the Localization Certification and Localization Project Management Certification programs at California State University in Chico in 2007. In 2008, I attained the SDL Trados Level 1 certification while completing the Certified Localization Professional program at Austin Community College. In addition, I have attended various localization and management workshops throughout the last ten years.

Professional Experience

I have been working in the localization industry for the last ten years. In 1998, I started my localization career as a technical translator from English to German at Intergraph Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama, where I was responsible for the localization of multiple software products, including but not limited to 3D modelling, process plant design and geospatial data applications. In 2003, I joined UGS Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama as a Localization Specialist. While there, I was responsible for the localization of two of its products, including 3D modelling and life cycle management software. Since 2005, I have been with Avocent Corporation at its corporate headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama as Localization Coordinator. Here, I have been solely responsible for managing the localization of all of its software and hardware products, as well as its technical documentation, marketing collateral and its global web presence for its IT infrastructure management solutions for small, medium and large scale data centers.
